Saadani National Park

Saadani village once was an important harbour-town and slave trading centre in East Africa and now it is a small village whose neighbours hood mostly fishing – specializing in particular in prawns.
Saadani national park it is located on the Indian ocean coast 45km north of Bagamoyo the reserve is about 1000sq km. Saadani is the only coastal wildlife sanctuary in East Africa, which not only means relaxing on Indian Ocean beaches, but also provides the opportunity to observe big game drives and birdlife interacting with the sea.Dolphin are common off the coast of the park;whales pass through the Zanzibar channel in October and November and green turtle breed at Madete beach.

Saadani has a diverse population of animals and birds like Elephant, leopard, lion, buffalo, giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, colobus monkey, hippo, crocodile and the rare Roosevelt sable can be seen here.
In the other coastal villages near to the park, coconut growing is another source of income. Villages of the mainland mostly live from agriculture and livestock farming and Outside of the Southern park boundaries, there are also larger salt and pineapple production areas.
Saadani offers activities like driving safari, walking safari, and boat safari.
