Udzungwa Mountains National Park

udzungwaUdzungwa mountains national park is a conservation area f about 2,000 square kilometer and its located 350square kilometre and it may take five hours drive from Dar es salaam and 65kms(40 miles)South west of Mikumi.

Udzungwa described as a “Primate Park” due to the ten species of primate living in it’s pristine forests. Four of the species are endemic including the Iringa red colobus and Sanje Crested Mangabey velvet monkey,buffalo,yellow monkey,red duikers,honey badgers,yellow monkey,sables and blue duikers.

Although many hikers are more likely to see the black and white Colobus Monkeys. Ornithologists are attracted by the avian wealth of more than 400 species.

The attraction of the park is its bio diversity and unique rainforest where rare plants not found anywhere. His greenish massive forest panorama drew an attention of backpacker alike;furthermore the park is a home of an important population of primates (10 species- more than in any of TanzaniaÂ’as other parks) as well as the grey faced sengi.
